Construction crews will close the parking and travel lanes on SW 9th Avenue on Sept. 4 to receive construction material. Similar to the closure that took place earlier this week, the sidewalk on the east side of the street will remain open to pedestrians. This closure is needed to receive and unload steel for a new stair and elevator tower, this time at the corner of SW Morrison Street and SW 9th Avenue. A crane will raise the steel to the top level parking deck where crews will transport it to the north side of the building.
Periodic short term closures of 9th Avenue with flaggers have occurred throughout construction and will continue. Traffic closures are limited to SW 9th Avenue to avoid disrupting MAX and Portland Streetcar services, which run on three sides of the building. There are no additional full closures of SW 9th Avenue to through traffic and parking planned at this time.
